10 Reasons to do Yoga

10 Reasons to do Yoga

1. IMPROVES YOUR BREATHING: More than the posture itself, Yoga teaches us how to breathe, how to coordinate our breathing with our movement, learn how to exhale and inhale and take deeper breaths. This helps to improve our lung function, relax the body and mind, and flexibility.

2. STRESS RELIEF: By learning how to breathe, the body releases all stress, our mind concentrates more on the breathing and clears the mind of any thoughts that might trouble us, easing symptoms as anxiety, depression, fatigue, asthma and sleeping problems.

3. FLEXIBILITY AND BODY POSTURE: When practicing the Yoga asanas (postures) our body gains flexibility and mobility. It takes just one class to see the difference on a person’s body, many people can’t touch their toes during their first yoga class, but after that, they learn how to use the correct muscles and eventually flexibility comes, which helps to improve body alignment resulting in better posture. When we gain flexibility and our body gets better alignment by lengthening the ligaments, tendons and muscles, elasticity and strength increases relieving joint pain, back, neck and muscle problems

4. BETTER SEX LIFE: When our body learns to breath properly and gains flexibility we can get to postures in bed we never thought we could, we bring life into our bedroom, being more creative with our partner.

When we practice Yoga, we learn how to control and squeeze our Mula Bandha, that is when we are contracting the muscle between our sphincter muscle and the muscle that controls urination. And when you exercise your Bandha, you can have stronger, more intense orgasms (as can your partner, if you squeeze him/her).

5. INCREASED STRENGTH: When practicing the Yoga asanas, we use every muscle in our body, helping to increase strength in every single part of the body. When we have a strong body we have a healthier life, muscle and joint pain disappears.

6. WEIGHT MANAGEMENT: Yoga is not a sport, although by practicing the Yoga asanas, our body burns calories, builds muscle and strength, helping us to burn fat and lose weight.

7. IMPROVED CIRCULATION: Inverted poses, such as Headstand, Handstand, and Shoulderstand, encourage venous blood from the legs and pelvis to flow back to the heart, where it can be pumped to the lungs to be freshly oxygenated. Yoga also boosts levels of hemoglobin and red blood cells, which bring oxygen to the tissues.

8. MAKES YOU HAPPIER: A consistent Yoga practice decreases depression and increases the serotonin levels, making us feel happier. We learn to focus on the present, on the things that matters, little things don’t bother us anymore and seeing the results Yoga has on our body we feel encouraged and happier.

9. FOCUS ON THE PRESENT: When we practice Yoga, we concentrate and meditate on the moment, forget about what is going on around us, we leave outside the studio all of our troubles, thoughts and we focus on the present, we become more aware of who we are.

10. INNER PEACE: The main purpose of Yoga is to get to a meditative state of mind, some will call it Nirvana. When we practice Yoga as a whole and not only the asanas, we can get to a meditative state of mind, helping us to reach a deeper, more spiritual and more satisfying place in our lives.
